I can see your point. I actually like the Red Album and “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived”, though. Sure, it’s a mess, but after something as stale and trite as Make Believe we needed something different from Weezer. The fact that the Red Album is so melodically strong despite being all over the place doesn’t hurt it either.

Sadly, I think Weezer have tried to outdo even themselves. After making the junk that was “Beverly Hills,” I would argue that they’ve one-uped it (or would that be one-downed it?) with “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived” off their newest album (The Red Album). It’s a schizophrenic mess that almost makes you yearn for “Beverly Hills” again. Yeah, it’s that bad.
